As assertive, outspoken, confident and dynamic people, those choice professions should speak well to their characters.

Taurus (April 20 - May 20) Taureans are reliable, practical and honest; they are methodical and work well in teams. Additionally, these folks like jobs that deal with artistic or extravagant things. Compatible professions include jobs in finance, accounting and interior design. Nursing, engineering, law, marketing, public relations and higher education also fit the bill for jobs attuned to Taureans -- good thing those are jobs they reported in the survey.

Gemini (May 21 - June 21) Gemini's need a profession that keeps them motivated and interested -- no two days at work should be the same. Gemini from the survey reported working such jobs as art/design/architecture, nursing and personal care, sales, law enforcement, firefighting and machine operation -- all of which are right up a Gemini's alley.

Cancer (June 22 - July 22) Cancers are energetic, kindhearted, imaginative and protective. Their personalities usually fare well in law, psychology, teaching or nursing. Survey respondents said they worked in government, legal services, advertising, higher education, machine operation, transportation and military, all of which are in line with Cancer personality traits.

Leo (July 23 - August 22) Leos have a true lust for power and leadership. They are confident, optimistic and charismatic -- they have no problem winning people over with their charm. Government, legal services, art/design/architecture, engineering, entertainment, real estate and education, are all areas suited for Leos; luckily those are the professions reported in the survey, too.

Virgo (August 23 - September 22) Virgos are detail-oriented with a passion for knowledge and meaning. Careers that require accuracy and research are well-suited to these folks. Some professions Virgo reported in the survey included social work, sales, editing/writing and food preparation.

Libra (September 23 - October 22) Libras are diplomatic and sociable -- they need human interaction in order to be happy in a career. They are also easy-going, cooperative and are able to reach a compromise easily. Taking all of these factors into consideration, Libras from the survey are on course as they work in government, social work, advertising, machine operation, law enforcement, firefighting, sales and education.

Scorpio (October 23 - November 21) Analytical, intuitive and resourceful, Scorpios are drawn to mystery and all things complex and abnormal. Occupations well-matched to this personality are in science, investigation or politics. Scorpios from the survey said they work in such careers as legal services, engineering, science, education, construction and skilled trades.

Sagittarius (November 11 - December 21) Sagittarians are spiritual, positive and ethical; they also love to travel and learn new skills. Editing/writing, marketing/public relations, entertainment, hotel/recreation, IT and military, the careers reported in the survey, are all fitting for Sagittarians.

Capricorn (December 22 - January 19) Capricorns are persistent, responsible and dogmatic; they thrive in positions of power and where you can apply your common sense. Capricorns reported working in art/design/architecture, nursing, science, IT, sales, farming and food preparation, which are all fitting to this zodiac.

Aquarius (January 20 - February 18) Independent, humane, innovative, unconventional and visionary are all adjectives that describe Aquarians. Jobs suited for these character traits include astronomy, photography, aviation and computer technology. Aquarians who responded to the survey reported holding jobs in sales, military, engineering, mechanics, food preparation, facilities management and transportation.

Pisces (February 19 - March 20) Pisces are empathetic, caring, unselfish and spiritual, which combine well with healing or compassionate professions like health care, social work or philanthropy. Pisces in the survey are on the right track, reporting working in such careers as social work, personal care, IT and facilities management.

Little Black Book

My first Queer Cab (for CABaret) on October 15th (Wednesday) was themed Little Black Book and hosted by Jess Dobkin.

I wrote an acrostic poem for it, but didn't end up presenting it because there was no computer access, let alone Powerpoint, despite there being a projector, and it would work only if there was a visual accompaniment. My idea was to make the audience read it for themselves, be it aloud or in silence, because I wanted them to give it their own voice.

The poem as it is wasn't what I was planning to write about. There was a workshop before the event (again, by Jess herself) and one of the pieces we did was map out themes/brainstorm what we personally associate with the Little Black Book. Unfortunately, mine was rather sombre.

My Little Black Book
> Moleskin
> Diary > Secrets
> le français > la France
> March of Remembrance and Hope > Holocaust > Survivors > Hope for the Future
> Little Black Bird > The Raven > Death

Therefore, I originally came up with this:

Every night, before heading to bed, Madame DuBois would first retrieve the extension of herself, the tangible embodiment of her non-physical self in the form of a little black book, tucked carefully amongst her little black dresses of yore.

It was in the book did she spill her thoughts and emotions, express her creativity and visions, ideas, wishes, hopes, dreams and aspirations. But most importantly, the book represented not some mere diary but her secret's keeper.

In the lovely cursive of a young French schoolgirl, with all the flourish, every detail of her handwriting possessed a beauty which was difficult to come by during those dark times.

Madame DuBois does not open the book, she does not read those words written by a different girl from a different time, she does not look at those images drawn by a girl wrought with fear and despair. No, she doesn't.

What she does do though, is hold the book close to her with her eyes closed. Unwelcomed memories flood her without bidding. Her nightmares are haunted by them. Yet she does it every night religiously.

Are you intrigued? The pages reveal a story of an incomprehensible reality during the Holocaust when unimaginable acts were perpetrated.

Our little girl stood witness to schoolmates disappearing, her neighbours forcibly removed from their homes, but what caused her most grief was the knowledge her father was implicit in such crimes. Yet every night, as she embraces it, she is filled with remembrance and a survivor's hope for the future.

Tonight, Madame DuBois does not open the book, she does not read those words written by a different girl from a different time, she does not look at those images drawn by a girl wrought with fear and despair. No, she doesn't.

What she does do though, is hold the book close to her with her eyes open as they gingerly track the silhouette of what appears to be a little black bird perched on her window sill. Alas! The raven's come for her.

I didn't like it a whole lot. I found it wasn't as polished as I wanted it to be. I tried my best to do something about it over the Thanksgiving weekend though (Sunday, October 12th). I went down to my favourite spot at the easternmost end of the Beaches at the water treatment plant/facility. While there, I decided to do something from scratch. I did was I did best. Random spontaneity.

To me, the ending was a surprising twist. Deep with a sense of love-hate. Dark, mysterious. Sultry, that's the word.

look over your shoulder
if you are alone
take a chance and
turn heart from stone
little by little
each bell will ring

birds will sing
little by little
as winter comes spring
comes blossoms bring
kiss me with love

blood red deep
over and all over
over and it is over
kiss me deeply... with lover's hate

France, here I come!

Your result for The Let's Parler French Test...

100% LikelyToSurvive!

Based on the results of this test, it is highly likely that:

You prefer your romance and love to wild and daring rather than typical or boring, you would rather be pursued than do the pursuing and, when it comes to physical love, your satisfaction comes more from providing a wonderful time to your partner than simply seeking your own.

This places you in the Lover Style of: The Surprising Lover.

The Surprising Lover is a wonderful Lover Style, and, like the name implies, is often filled with hidden delights and talents that might not be apparent from a surface knowledge of the person. The Surprising Lover is rather like a geode--sometimes rough on the exterior, but filled with beauty and wonder. The Surprising Lover is thus a gem to find, though it can sometimes be difficult to do so because they often tend to be humble and unwilling to reveal their inner greatness unless they're in a rewarding relationship.

In terms of physical love, the Surprising Lover really shines, often highly imaginative and utterly devoted to bringing the heights of pleasure to the one that they truly love. Given a rewarding, reciprocative relationship, and the right lover, the Surprising Lover can be a delight in bed.

Best Compatibility can probably be found with: The Carnal Lover (most of all) or the Exotic Lover, or the Suave Lover.

Congratulations!

Thanks Again! -- THE LOVER STYLE PROFILE TEST

55% partner focus, 43% aggressiveness, 65% adventurousness
30/100 You scored 55% on partner focus, higher than 30% of your peers.
27/100 You scored 43% on aggressiveness, higher than 27% of your peers.
70/100 You scored 65% on adventurousness, higher than 70% of your peers.

INFP

Your Love Type: INFP

The Idealist

In love, you crave a long term, harmonious relationship.
For you, sex doesn't come quickly - it takes time for you to open up.

Overall, you are supportive, nurturing, and expressive.
However, you tend to be shy and protective of your personal space.

Best matches: ENFJ and ESFJ

What's Your Love Type

About Your Personality Type

Imagine a deep lush valley, caressed by flowers and trees that eternally blossom, inhabited by animals that serve as gentle companions and by people who spend their days loving, creating, and selflessly serving humanity. This is the world of the rare (only about 3 percent of the population) Idealistic Philosopher: the person who is forever striving to live in a perfect world where love and harmony abound.

INFP when in love

As an idealistic Philosopher, you believe that love requires a profound emotional and spiritual connection. You may also believe that, to attain this desired state, you will have to endure a great deal of pain and sacrifice. Yet all the suffering will be worth it once you find your perfect love. When that blessed day comes, you will be a complete person, as you and your partner will work together to make the world a better place. In the beginning of a relationship, you tend to idealize your mate as the greatest person in the world; you'd easily give up your life for him or her. Later, when reality intrudes, you may find yourself disappointed as you realize that no real human being can match the fantastic images of love and romance you created in your imagination. Fortunately, despite your disillusionment, you somehow recover and begin to accept the flaws of your partner, ever so slowly, while still wishing you could change him or her into the perfect image you had when you first fell in love.

INFP where to meet

Where can you meet an Idealistic Philosopher? Idealistic Philosophers love writing, psychology, the arts, and relationships, and are drawn to activities that involve a crusade or mission. You can bump into them at bookstores, especially in sections related to the preceding topics. You can also find Idealistic Philosophers at the theater, art galleries, and museums - often walking slowly, by themselves, lost in their thoughts.

Maybe tomorrow

liesl(chola) says:
i'm still curious to see what that would look like
Mes cahiers noir says:
EW
i can imagine what it looks like
liesl(chola) says:
tell me!

STORY HIGHLIGHTS

35-year-old woman's skin had grown around the lid of the toilet, police say

Official: Toilet seat had to be pried off her body, seat went with her to hospital

Boyfriend claims he bought food, water to girlfriend who refused to leave bathroom

Police found woman with pants at mid-thigh, disoriented, legs atrophied

Spring Forward

Is spring here yet?

Apparently, spring is nigh. type='text'>Jigsaw's dead!

Well Jigsaw did die, but he lives on in his apprentice.

Other news: Heath Ledger is dead. No. I'm serious.

He was found naked in bed ... (I know - scandalous!) Since then, there were lots of speculation and gossip about him committing suicide.

So-much-so, it was even picked up by the Toronto Star, which is provided for free on campus, on Wednesday, January 23, 2008, and made it to front page (but it didn't headline).

Heath Ledger dies at 28
Actor best known for his sensitive role in Brokeback Mountain is found dead in his apartment of a suspected drug overdose. The Star's Richard Ouzounian reflects on a young man who seemed plagued with personal demons.
Story, E1
Seriously?! Personal demons?

Those who know me, know how critical I am of Hollywood.
However, the article takes the cake. Such irresponsible mongering. Journalism reaches a new low.

I want to slap him with a fish. I suppose Richard is just bitter for studying journalism only to end up writing about Hollywood's crackwhores. You know, something along the lines of Kate Hudson in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and James Marsden in 27 Dresses. It's all about the big break.

I mean ... what's the dealio with what I deem an unhealthy obsession with Hollywood, celebrities and the lives they live?! Britney Spears and Phil the Tool, who is Oprah's evil spawn; I still love you Oprah! It's sad when you can't let a dead man rest in peace. If Richard was such a great journalist, wouldn't he be writing about Heath Ledger's "personal demons" in advance ... before the death? Then again, if there were any "demons", won't tabloids be the first to break the news?

I would love to read Richard's response to the updated news on findings which claim/prove Heath Ledger's death was accidental.

I'm thankful my friends didn't make a big deal out of his death. Sadly, the people I live with did.

The day Heath Ledger died was the day I was aroused from my after-school nap by my brother in the evening. "OH MY GOD! Heath Ledger is dead." From my brother to my sister. I was not happy. I was a cranky little mean bitch when I walked out of the room.

I don't hate Heath ledger, nor do I love him. I didn't watch Brokeback Mountain either because people I know already did, or didn't want to. So I ended up not going and before I knew it, it stopped playing on the big screen.

I wasn't upset, but I would admit to being shocked. It's not something you expect to wake up to. It was more shocking than Benazir Bhutto's assasination, which I was shocked to find out when I woke up in the morning and doing my daily routine of surfing the news on the likes of CNN.com International.

The shock from her death was not about her being dead, but about the timing ... and not knowing when it would happen. Again with her death, there was many who expressed their condolences and an outpouring of condemnation and grief from the international arena.

I caution those who do so without giving it thought though. Remember, she is a woman who was prime minister not once, but twice. She was given two chances to do good. Both times on corruption charges, she was forced to abdicate/resign or removed from office/impeached, although 'impeach' is a word associated with Clinton (the one of Monica infamy), and regrettably, not Bush (a.k.a. Dubya).

At least if there's anything to be happy about, Bush is going to be out of the White House after his second term is up, unlike Putin, who is posed to become prime minister. ("¡Adios, mi amigo!" which I believe would be to his chagrin, given the immigration reform situation in the US.)

The Clinton-Obama race down to the Democratic presidential nomination is heating up and on fire! Well, no, not really. It is pretty tight though.

I don't know what to make of it yet. School's been too busy for me to follow the primaries closely. I like the idea of any one of them two candidates as president.

However, I think I swing towards Clinton though, by a fraction of an iota, because I believe she would work towards her campaign plaform of universal health care for all (compared and contrasted to Obama's stance on making health care affordable). If you saw SiCKO (did you know I met Michael Moore at TIFF '07?), you would know she tried as First Lady, but faced major setbacks, and if presidential powers were invested in her, she's got no reason to not succeed. Any form of failure then, would be of her own doing.

Besides, while I like and appreciate Obama's charisma and message of change and hope, and how he is able to capture the imagination and motivate your typical American, he is still young and there is always going to be time for him later down the road. Now Clinton on the other hand is close to reaching past her prime. It's now or never, do or die for her. Plus, why waste Obama's two terms at present when his talents can be better used at a later time? Of course, there would be those who argue the US is at a critical point in its history, especially when coming to terms and dealing with the aftermath of D'oh!-bya.

Ruby

Dare I say, I am in love with Ruby.

<ruby><rb>東</rb><rp>(</rp><rt>とう</rt><rp>)</rp></ruby> <ruby><rb>京</rb><rp>(</rp><rt>きょう</rt><rp>)</rp></ruby>

I swear it's got nothing to do with the fact they're called Ruby. Good friend to other but need to be choosy on who they allow their friends to be.

My Pearl Harbour

Last night was one hell of a crazy night. Period.
It was truly a night which would go down in infamy.

In the meantime, I thought I'd share a little about another blog I am also keeping. It's a personal one, which is why I set it to private away from the prying eyes of my own paparazzi. You know who you are.

I'm proud of the work I did with it. It didn't take me very long to come up with it and to draw it out, although by the time it was in a state I deemed satisfactory, it was already evening, after spending all day on it from the morning on Saturday (or yesterday).

click for enlargement

Other news: a layout design is also being planned, but I don't know how it would turn out and stuff. It's complicated. Well, time-consuming. Time which I can barely afford.

2007 Reviewed

I'm trying to come up with a list of things I did in 2007. It won't be easy because being pathetic, it translates into my boring life, working, nay, slaving away like a peon.

I feel keeping a diary, or blog, as the case may be, allows me to gain insight into the years and the times past, which with a little luck on my side, ought to come with at least some growth.
